"The truth is all I want for history"
Coming up: a week at the Truman Library in Independence, MO
I haven’t written anything new to share here this week. Instead, in case you missed it, look at (or listen to) a recent post that’s in the spirit of this post’s title:
Next week, I’ll mine the archives at the Truman Library in Independence, Missouri, for my PhD research. “The truth is all I want for history,” attributed to the former President, is a fitting title for any trip to the archives and my dissertation. This will be my second time at the Truman Library, the first being 12-14(!) years ago (I don’t want to look it up). I arrive on Sunday afternoon to be there when the doors open on Monday, and I depart on Friday. If any reader is around for dinner, give me a shout.
Checking the weather, I was pleasantly surprised to find it will be mild, with temperatures between the 50s and 30s. That’ll make for good running weather before sitting all day. This week was a “taper” – of sorts – as I am recovering from a cold – of sorts – that came on Sunday, probably from running in 20-something F Boston weather, even as I felt like I might be getting sick. Now to dig out my spring running kit for these warmer runs…
What’s with the pictures? Well, I thought I would have some clever tie-in, but I couldn’t come up with anything. So, enjoy the pics. By the way, I dropped a white lens cloth taking the first picture. It should surprise no one that I couldn’t find it. I did get it back, though. During the spring thaw, someone found it and hung it on the small tree at the left, and I reclaimed it.
That’s it for now. I hope to have something more interesting for your reading enjoyment next time.
